On project after project, Dutchess County taxpayers have watched government spending run over budget. After decades of financial mismanagement, residents need independent financial oversight to avoid unexpected and unnecessary tax increases.
Dan will put people first. Dutchess County residents deserve to know how their hard-earned taxpayer dollars are being spent. Dan will prioritize keeping the public informed through town halls and expanded communications.
Dan will be an objective and aggressive auditor. A good Comptroller avoids politics and deals with objective truth. Dan takes the watchdog role seriously and will increase the number of audits.
Dan will work to address the housing crisis. As a Beacon Councilmember, Dan has fought for more and better housing for seniors and working families. As Comptroller, Dan will execute an annual review of Dutchess County’s progress toward meeting the goals of its own housing study.
Dan recognizes the economic impacts of climate change. Super storms and other instances of extreme weather are already taking their toll on Dutchess County finances. Dan will conduct a series of audits to look at the real costs of climate inaction and county operations like the incinerator.
Dan will work to ensure that every taxpayer dollar spent benefits our residents and communities.
